Happy Anniversary e-Factor!®
The very first prototype of e-Factor!® was delivered 7 years ago on November 6. SEVEN YEARS! Wow. So many things have happened during these seven years! As I reflect on both the good and the bad, the experiences shared and the people I’ve met as a result of this journey I am amazed at the growth and sheer volume of lessons learned. The easiest part was creating the game. It got a lot tougher once it was time to talk to people and start building a business to support the game and its programs.
If I had known then what I know now about people’s fear and varied interpretations about ethics, including the basic definition of the concept of ethics, I would probably not have started this journey. This has been a challenging path. My mission has evolved, from a simple board game to create a positive view of ethics to a “Big Why” of creating a globally understood and accepted standard of ethics to our world. I have created a “niche” market to provide continuing education for professionals with an ethics requirement for license renewal. I’m speaking to larger and larger groups who are truly interested in ethics and changing their world. And I’ve learned a lot about myself as an entrepreneur, as well as the art of influencing (I don’t call it “selling” anymore).
Things seem to be coming around full circle. The initial thoughts I had on who would be best served and which companies or organizations I wanted to work with is now coming back around and people from these original groups are contacting me. Using games in training now seems to have caught on and is the “new trend” acceptable to the C-Suite. The vision I saw seven years ago finally seems to be taking shape, and the people who are offering to help, connect me with important people, and provide guidance is growing. e-Factor!® and I have come a long way from that day when the first prototype was handed to me.
I want to offer a special thanks to all those who have supported me along the way. There are a lot of you – too many to mention here. But I value all of you. I value your insights, the lessons you taught me, and your assistance. I thank you, e-Factor!® thanks you, and we still need your help to spread the word about the positive value of ethics. With your help and continued support we can actually create that standard of ethics, and maybe create a better environment for future generations.
